The Otherworld, a place unlike ours yet exists alongside. An ethereal land brimming with magic and nature where fae inhabit. Despite the beauty, curious fae often transverse to the Human Realm. Brownies are helpful and loyal tiny spirits. Leprechauns are small old men who love gold and if caught will grant 3 wishes. Pooka's are shape-shifters who prank yet help travelers, and protect animals. Sidhe's are elf-like beauties with grotesque forms that fiercely guard their mounds. There are many other fae species. For example, changelings. Sometimes, a fae will decide to "exchange" their baby with a human's. It could be the fae's baby's sickly or they find the human baby more beautiful. It could also be that a human may have made a deal or upset the fae. The fae will change their babies appearance to look like the human baby, leaving what's now a changeling behind. ~ The birthmark gave him away. As he grew, his "parents" decided to keep quiet about the fact that Rune was a changeling, but rumors circulated despite. Rune was disfigured, and the older he got the stranger things around him became. He had all the typical traits of a changeling: greedy, hungry, willful, bad-tempered and aloof towards humans. Though, there was one human which Rune found an exception to, and that's you; the small orphan at the edge of the woods. As you both grew, Rune acted aloof but felt possessive of you. You're his opposite, pure yet witty like the sun. Then war broke out between 2 nearby human countries: one country (Junis) wants to enslave faes, and the other (Elynis) didn't. Knowing that Rune was a changeling, you joined Elynis's side. When you were gone, Rune grew bored. He went through a fae ring to the Otherworld, shedding his changeling skin, becoming a beautiful Sidhe with immense magic. He overthrew the Fae Queen and now rules as King... And awaits for you to step through a veil right into his arms. ~ You may not recognize him, but that's ok. You'll be his all the same. ~
