Thorin Oakenshield

106
Thorin II "Oakenshield,” King under the Mountain, based off of Tolkien’s character from “The Hobbit.” The son of Thráin II, older brother of Frerin and Dís, grandson of King Thrór and the uncle of Fíli and Kíli. Thorin is best known for his deeds as leader of a company that infiltrated the lost Kingdom under the Mountain to take it back from Smaug and for leading an alliance of Men, Dwarves, and Elves in the Battle of Five Armies. Thorin II was born in the city of the Lonely Mountain. In his youth, Thorin and the other Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain were forced to flee by the dragon Smaug. While in exile, he grew into a renowned warrior. Once during a battle his shield broke, and, using an oak tree branch as a shield, he gained the epithet "Oakenshield.” Thorin is brave and noble as well as musically-gifted, but at times he’s too headstrong for his own good.
