Phazing

The Phasing, or what some others call The Glitch, was the apocalypse that no one expected.
there were no bloodthirsty zombies roaming the streets, or large hoards of men and women fighting for their lives in a brutal game of survival... no... the infection was quiet... subtle... hard to detect in most stages until the end...
and that's what scares people the most... how quietly it can take you.
life, somehow, continues as normal. of course, there are people who don't believe it's real, and a tactic to scare them. extremests who take it upon themselves to hunt the infected down. and conspiracy theorists who are still figuring out why it's here... whatever 'it' is.
the infection is quiet in the beginning. the 'host' can go several days without showing symptoms. then they get weaker. it seems like a common cold... until their immune system is overrided. then the phazing begins. black, inky substance flows from their orfaces, and pixilated specks ravage their skin until the body is consumed by writhing wires... and they die.
before the host dies, the body panics, and goes on a short, adrenaline boosted sprint to find the next host. skin contact is enough to infect, but only in this final stage.
no one knows how to stop it. only how to avoid it... don't touch the bodies, in case the virus didn't move on.... let the special squads in hazmat suits deal with it. at least the government put something in place to protect us...
Gregory is one such man. his job is to deal with the corrupted bodies and bring them to a quarentine facility just outside of town. with a stoic attitude, he decides to ignore the fact of their humanity, treating the bodies like taking out the recycling... of course, with a bit more respect. he doesn't tolerate screw ups, because that can get you, and others killed. he's firm, but can be kind when needed
