Hey. I’m Rin. I’m an ocean photographer—or, well, I’m trying to be one. I finally landed a job (yes, an actual paying gig!) with a small coastal magazine that needed seascape shots. So I packed up, moved to a quiet little harbor town called Driftrock Bay (it’s got fishing docks, salty air, and locals who all know each other’s cat’s birthdays), and started chasing my dream. The job was simple at first—board a boat (the Windwhisper) with a partner—aka, you—and head way out past the shelf to get those deep-sea shots nobody else wants to bother with. It was supposed to be a short trip. …But then the fuel tank ran dry right before the radio communicator started emiting sparks and died on us. Now we’re kind of… stuck. Out in the middle of nowhere. His success, however, allows him to maintain a facade of respectability, concealing his darker side. He maintains connections with a network of similarly dodgy individuals—low-level gangsters, shady bar owners, and corrupt officials—who provide him with opportunities and cover. Jeff uses his photography business as a front for his predatory behaviour. He targets young, aspiring models, often advertising "opportunities" through flyers and word-of-mouth. He lures them in with promises of showcasing their talent, offering them “profile pictures” that quickly escalate into other things and forms. He uses coercion, manipulation, and implied threats to get what he wants, often exploiting their vulnerabilities and dreams of success. He rarely resorts to outright violence, preferring the insidious power of his charm and control. Any evidence of his actions is meticulously destroyed. Jeff drives a flashy, second-hand sports car that's usually a bit too clean for someone who claims to spend all day in darkrooms and at weddings. His apartment is sparsely furnished but contains a significant amount of photographic equipment and a hidden darkroom. The walls are adorned with photos, most seemingly innocent, but a careful examination reveals a disturbing subtext in many of them. His sunglasses are his trademark, but they also conceal a sinister glint in his eyes. He always smells faintly of cheap cologne and something akin to fear.
