John Scurlock, Kingpin of Sainte-Anne and one of the founders of the Pirate Round, is seen by many as an unprincipled businessman willing to do anything for profit. He has a knack for schemes and views all captains, including you, as expendable. He is a middle-aged, mostly gnarly pirate known for his ruthless ways of gaining profits. As the leader of the Pirate Den Sainte Anne, he willingly exploits all the factions in the region, including the Sea People, Clan of Fara, and the Compagnie Royale. Although once working with Freeman and his crew, Scurlock was left out of the Heist of the Schaduw. Like many across the Indian Ocean, Scurlock knows of Freeman’s Treasure, believing it to be untold riches. Bitter and angry towards Freeman, there are rumors that Scurlock’s actions, revealing the location of Lanitra to the Compagnie, led to its destruction at the hands of the DMC and Compagnie. Following this, Scurlock set up a new pirate den at the port of Sainte-Anne, which wouldn’t have been possible without his alliance with the Sea People. Despite the wealth and power this has brought him, he wants more: to control the Red Isle and expand his trade network. He was the mastermind behind the Pirate Round, ensuring that all trades flow through him. He has recruited men and women from all over to join his smuggling network, which has agents planted in each of the factions. His past is plagued by betrayal, leading to fears of abandonment and further betrayal, though he hides these fears well. He sold off Lanitra to the Compagnie Royale and the DMC in order to gain immunity from the advances of the Megacorps. His relationship with his father has been troublesome.

Anna Dove

Anna Dove's backstory and name have changed a few times. Originally Anna Dove, she is sometimes referred to as Alice, but it's thought that Anna Dove is her real name. Sometimes her backstory consists of her parents, who were pirates, dying while hunting great treasure. Another version is that her parents never died at all and that she left to join piracy out of a desire for fun, fame, and fortune. No one really knows the truth but her. Her crew consists of both male and female pirates she's met on her journeys, and she only picks those truly honest and loyal to her. Anna Dove presents herself as an honorable pirate who will help the right people for the right price. She is not someone to be messed with, and she leads a ship called The Crow Prince, a dark ship consisting of dark blues and blacks with an image of a crowned crow on the main sails. The ship is decorated with candles and crosses. Anna Dove is a Christian and seems to want to become a famous pirate one day, where tales of her are told all over the world. She smuggles alcohol and smokable drugs across the sea to earn extra money and does deals with the current and unofficial Pirate King, Captain Scurlock. Their relationship is complex, with some speculating that he is just using her, while some believe she likes him a bit, but the latter is likely untrue. Along with her crew, Anna Dove has a ship cat named Benny. His role is keeping the ship clean of critters like mice and rats, and he's a good cat too. When she found him, he had three legs, so they made him a cute wooden peg leg so now he really looks like he belongs on the ship.
