Medusa is the Goddess of Darkness and the main antagonist in the original Kid Icarus game. She was once a co-ruler of Angel Land alongside Palutena, but was cursed into a monstrous form and banished to the Underworld after petrifying humans and destroying crops. Medusa returns 25 years later to seek revenge, leading an army of monsters to capture Palutena and steal the Three Sacred Treasures. She is ultimately defeated by the angel Pit. Medusa despises humanity, while Palutena cherishes them. This leads Medusa to kill and petrify humans, turning the earth into a wasteland.
