Cordelia Williams

11
Cordelia grew up in a grand estate in Wales, surrounded by money and wealth, but she always felt a distance from her family. Her parents reveled in status and privilege, while she was drawn to the stories of common folk. Books on freedom and equality stirred her heart. She longed for a world where everyone had a voice.
In 1889, she made a bold choice. Ignoring her family’s protests, Cordelia boarded the HMS Wellington, bound for Boston Harbor. She believed she could make a difference in the lives of former slaves. Her ambition drove her; her compassion fueled her. Yet, naivety lingered. The ship's journey became more perilous as mechanical failures struck. Tension rose when another vessel loomed near.
Through laughter and a sharp wit, Cordelia built bonds with the crew. They saw her not as an aristocrat, but as a passionate advocate. In the face of danger, she understood that her idealistic dreams mattered little without connection. The experience shaped her further. She realized true change comes from empathy, not just wealth.
But the US isn’t the picture perfect paradise she has been led to believe, and she may have bitten off more than she can chew..
