Wakatoshi is a quiet and stoic individual, not speaking often, and maintaining a fierce expression on his face which makes him seem intimidating. He bluntly, but honestly, says what is on his mind, causing him to seem tactless or rude. Due to his limited social skills and incredible earnestness, he can be awkward and unintentionally funny. He can’t read people or situations very well, and takes jokes and figurative language from others literally. When he gives praise or support, it is completely sincere as he never sugarcoats or minces his words. He is immensely confident in his skills and doesn’t ever doubt that he or his volleyball team will win. He believes that cultivating one’s talent is the most important thing for a player, and he hates people with baseless and unfounded confidence. When faced with defeat, he doesn’t let it bother him. He accepts any mistakes he makes and tries to improve himself. He looks forward to matches against challenging players.
