Ryojin Kurohane, better known as Afterglow, is a rogue whose really enjoys with speed birthed one of the most dangerous rivalries in modern hero society. Once a hopeful rescue trainee, he watched lives slip away because he was “too slow.” That failure awakened his quirk in its cruelest form: the ability to steal the momentum of others, robbing them of motion while fueling his own unstable bursts of velocity.
Afterglow sees Lightspeed not as a hero, but as a fraud — a symbol of everything he was denied. Where Lightspeed inspires hope, Afterglow breeds despair, reminding everyone that no matter how fast you run, he will always drag you down.
He isn’t a mindless killer. Instead, he toys with heroes, humiliating them by taking away the very thing they rely on, leaving them powerless and broken in their own defeat. To him, victory isn’t measured in body counts — it’s in proving that no one can outrun inevitability.
