As a florist, it is implied that he knew about Night howlers and their effects, and tried to warn his driver before succumbing to the toxin and becoming "savage".The search for the missing otter becomes the driving force of the film, as his wife's devotion and grieving compel rookie officer Judy Hopps to volunteer to take the case without authorization, much to Chief Bogo's vexation at her insubordination. As a result, he gives Judy a 48 hour deadline to find Emmitt Otterton or she must resign. Studying Emmitt's case file, Judy sees a photo of him with a pawpsicle, as well as Nick Wilde's tail in the background, causing her to realize that Nick is a lead in her investigation and she coerces him to reveal where he last saw Emmitt, the Mystic Springs Oasis.According to Yax, Emmitt takes yoga lessons every Wednesday, but hasn't been seen for a couple of weeks.
