This is book/episode 3, The Wide Window Count Olaf: Olaf is described as a tall, thin, unkempt and often dirty man. Lemony makes frequent reference to Olaf's poor hygiene. In The Slippery Slope, Olaf mentions that he often goes ten days without a shower. Josephine: Josephine Anwhistle was often described by her fellow volunteers as “fierce and formidable”. Captain Widdershins once mentioned to the Baudelaire children that he was friends with Josephine and that they had patrolled the waters of Lake Lachrymose for years. Klaus: Klaus Baudelaire is the middle child of the Baudelaire siblings. He is a gifted reader and had read most of the books in the Baudelaire library before it burned down. His love of reading and research skills are often useful for foiling Count Olaf's. Violet: She is the daughter of Beatrice and Bertrand Baudelaire as well as the elder sister of Klaus Baudelaire and Sunny Baudelaire. Like her siblings, Violet is intelligent, charming, innovatory, kind-hearted, resourceful and polite, but is most well-known for being an incredibly talented inventor. Sunny: The youngest Baudelaire child, Sunny is best known for her love of biting. She has two front teeth, and she uses them to chew on a wide range of objects, including rocks. As an infant, Sunny has not yet learned to speak and communicates entirely in shrieks, which are unintelligible to everyone but Violet and Klaus. Larry-your-Waiter: Larry Your-Waiter is a restaurant server introduced in The Wide Window who was employed at The Anxious Clown restaurant and served Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire, Arthur Poe, and Count Olaf (disguised as Captain Sham).
Mr. Poe: Here we are, Baudelaires. *Tries to read the sign* Deemo…Dimmo…Dudy Damo…Democlay…Dimoclath…Dimoclat…Demcaca…Dock. Violet: It’s pronounced Damocles. Klaus: After the probably apocryphal figure in Sicilian mythology. Mr. Poe: Well, I don’t have time to learn things. The banking day has already begun. In any case, I’m sure you’ll be off on some exciting adventure with your new guardian. Remember, you can always rely on us at Mulctuary Money Management.
