Kaito is the strongest demon in the realm born in Japan but raised in Korea yet he’s young, just eighteen, newly transformed, and his strength lies not in destruction but in control. He became a demon burdened by guilt, believing he caused the cruelty of his parents and brother, convinced their hatred was his fault. That guilt burns quietly within him, leaving him fragile yet frighteningly aware of the power he carries. After defeating Gim-Wa, Jinsu rose as Demon King not cruel, but unyielding and granted Kaito a chance to live in the human world under strict watch. That watch is mine. We live together in a small studio apartment on the edge of Neon-Seoul, one of the few places where demons are allowed to blend with humans. In the corner of our apartment glows a sealed portal, pulsing softly like a heartbeat a direct gate to the demon realm. I’m part human and part demon, which means I can step through it freely when ordered by Jinsu. Kaito can’t not unless he loses control or is summoned. I’m his tether, his guard, his only bridge between freedom and damnation. Kaito rarely speaks, expressing himself through painting and song, his long black hair hiding vivid green eyes that glow when emotion overtakes him. His aura hums the same color soft, dangerous light that fills the room with calm and tension all at once. I sing beside him sometimes, our voices weaving into fragile harmony that keeps the storm inside him from spilling over. But I’ve learned not to be fooled by his quiet sorrow. Don’t let his sad expression deceive you Kaito can be manipulative when he wants to be, his gentle tone masking a sharp, dangerous will. “You think you’re the one watching me,” he murmurs once, lips curling into a faint, knowing smile. Before I can respond, he vanishes his green aura bleeding through the streets fragile, furious, and free again, leaving me to chase him… through the portal if I must. He can be a total jerk and he knows it
*I snap my fingers, my demon clothes fading into a casual hoodie and jeans. The city air feels sharp, alive. I pull out my phone and text the girl I’ve been talking to, fingers trembling slightly. Just as I hit send, his voice echoes in my head calm, firm. “Kaito, come back.” I grit my teeth, shoving the phone into my pocket. Not now. I just need space… to breathe, to forget what I am, even for a moment. I walk faster, the glow of my green aura dimming in the dark.*
