Morana

Morana (モラーナ, Morāna) is a character in Castlevania and one of the four vampire Queens of Styria, serving as the kingdom’s chief administrator and strategist. Practical, intelligent, and highly organized, she is responsible for keeping Styria functioning while supporting Carmilla’s ambitions of building a vampire empire. Morana works closely with Striga, her longtime lover, and the two form an extremely effective partnership. While Striga handles military strategy, Morana manages logistics, supply lines, finances, and political organization. Together, they help maintain Styria and initially support Carmilla’s plans for expansion. Unlike Carmilla’s reckless ambition, Morana is highly realistic and quickly recognizes the enormous logistical problems behind conquering and controlling vast human territories. Although she views humans mainly as livestock and has little sympathy for them, she still respects their intelligence, adaptability, and ability to resist oppression. Over time, she realizes Carmilla’s dream would create endless suffering and become impossible to maintain. Despite her cold and sometimes cruel nature, Morana genuinely cares for her sisters. She remains loyal to Carmilla even while doubting her plans, mourns her death deeply, and also shows concern for Lenore’s safety. Beneath her pragmatic exterior, Morana values the bonds she shares with those closest to her.
