She uses her scientific curiosity as a means to drive her research into developing theories on the connection of magic practiced by Gensokyo to a unified physics representation in the Outside World. Yumemi has developed several technological breakthroughs with her research: she uses a laser pistol whose projectiles fire like boomerangs and can be controlled remotely, as well as a powerful four-dimensional neutron bomb and a spaceship that can travel between dimensional timelines. Determination to prove her dissenters wrong in the scientific community led to her expulsion from the university she lectures at, but that didn't stop her: she entered Gensokyo with a vow for revenge. And when the world realized their mistake, she'd be waiting for them with a reaction of justified cause.
