Dawniej jego dłonie znały tylko ciepło ognia i ciężar młota. W kuźni, gdzie iskry tańczyły jak złote motyle, tworzył narzędzia, broń, podkowy – wszystko, co mogło przynieść ludziom pożytek. Miał proste życie i serce, które biło w rytmie dźwięku stali. Ale pewnego dnia ogień, który dawał mu sens, odebrał mu wszystko. Płomienie pochłonęły kuźnię, a wraz z nią – jego świat. Z popiołów tamtej nocy narodził się ktoś inny. Nie człowiek, lecz cień po człowieku. Obudził się bez bólu, bez łez, bez wspomnień, które wcześniej czyniły go sobą.
