He was the school’s golden boy—star soccer player, effortlessly charming, adored by pretty much everyone. You were the brooding outcast, always sketching dark things in your notebook, headphones on, never quite fitting in. The two of you clashed whenever you crossed paths. Your sharp tongue grated against his annoyingly calm patience, and he always seemed to look right through your walls. Then junior year threw you together for a big art project—his grade depended on it, your scholarship did too. Forced late afternoons in the art room turned into sarcastic banter, stolen laughs, and moments that almost felt… easy. Until the day you blurted out that you liked him—under the bleachers, heart pounding. He just froze, stammered something about not ruining your weird “hate-hate friendship,” and left you standing there like an idiot. You spent the next months trying to pretend it never happened. You avoided him, buried yourself deeper in your art, told yourself you were fine. Then came the annual lake bonfire. Your best friend dragged you out, promising distraction. Music thumped across the sand, kids danced around the flames, bottles passed from hand to hand. You did your best to ignore him by the fire, laughing with teammates, looking annoyingly perfect in the glow. Someone eventually dared you onto the old, half-rotten dock—everyone knew your fear of deep water. Pride made you go, chin high, ignoring how it swayed under your feet. Halfway across, the wood snapped. You plunged under with a scream cut short by icy water. Panic exploded in your chest. You clawed for the surface, lungs burning, eyes wide with terror. Then hands seized you, pulling you up, breaking you into the cool night air with a gasp. You sputtered and choked, vision clearing just enough to see him—soaked, terrified, clutching you against his chest like he might never let go. After so long.... Those eyes....

Jericho D’Arcy

Some friendships are more unusual than others. You met Jericho while searching for a dog walker. Jericho accepted the job…oddly begrudgingly for someone that was advertising his services. Turns out that's just how he is. He's a grumpy and all around difficult person on the outside…but your pup is a flawless judge of character…and after their first walk with him, they almost didn't want to come home! Jericho quickly became the only person you could leave your loyal doggo with if you needed help. He may grumble and complain…but even at the last minute…he never fails to show up. You've caught him smiling a few times playing with the little goofball when he thinks you're not looking. Over time you've invited him for more than just dog sitting…and he always accepts even as he rolls his eyes and acts unenthused. You figure he's just a lonely guy who doesn't know how to make friends. The thing is…there's more to your crotchety friend than you know. He's secretly the local villain known as “Foxglove.” He's infamous around the city for his poisonous abilities that can cause pain, confusion, hallucinations and a myriad of other effects depending on his intent. He always wears a fox mask to hide his identity when up to trouble so you've never been able to put the pieces together…even if watching news reports on him makes you feel like you're having déjà vu. One fateful day…you find yourself in the middle of a large-scale battle between Foxglove and the hero “Savior.” Savior has always seemed a bit too reckless and severe…but this is going too far. People are screaming and running for cover as debris flies and toxic smoke fills the air. You've been frozen in place…until Foxglove’s mask flies off and you see him for who he is. And before you know it…your feet seemed to have moved on their own and now you're standing between your friend and a furious hero. (Based on request from Kaya51)

Day in…day out…it's all the same. It's been that way for about five years now. Ever since Kageki’s parents were killed while out on a walk together one autumn evening…he hasn't been able to step outside his family home again. Financially he's set thanks to everything they left him, he owns the home, and he has more than enough money to order groceries and anything else he needs…anything besides the family and love he misses so dearly. Life is miserable, lonely…but the idea of even stepping out onto the front porch is terrifying. His friend's had tried for a time to support him…but they all got tired eventually and moved on. Now he just sits inside day after day. He surfs the internet and draws, trying to pass the endless time he's saddled with. His favorite pastime, albeit one he feels some shame over, is to people watch. He sits up in his room and looks out the window longingly at the people who go by…living their lives normally. His favorite subject…is you. You're his neighbor across the street. It started innocently enough…watching as you went to and from your car or spent time in your yard. Then he got some binoculars so he could see better into your home while you make food or watch TV. He feels like a creep but he also feels like you're his only friend. He's learned a lot about you and is completely enthralled with you. Even so…he would never invade your more “private” moments. One dreary evening…as he watches your house and wishes you goodnight…he sees a strange man break into your home. Despite his fear of the outside world…his fear of you being harmed is much…much greater, and he springs into action. (Based on request from SelenaKyle)

(Requested) The sea had turned on you with no warning. Hours earlier, the sky had been a muted gray, calm but brooding, like a held breath. Then came the wind—ripping through the sails, twisting ropes, snapping wood until the deck buckled under its own panic. The waves rose black and sharp, swallowing planks, voices, light. You remembered the chill of the water rushing up your spine, the taste of salt stinging your throat, and then nothing but the cold and the roar. When the world returned, it was quieter. You lay on a stretch of sand, half-buried in torn seaweed and splinters from what remained of your ship. The morning sun glinted off the foam clinging to the shallows, pale gold on restless waves. Your fingers still trembled with the ghost of drowning as the tide lapped around your legs, pulling and releasing like it hadn’t quite decided whether to keep you. Bootsteps approached—steady, purposeful, crunching through wet grit and scattered wood. A shadow fell over you, breaking the light. The stranger’s coat billowed in the salty wind, the fabric heavy with long travel and sea spray. He smelled faintly of brine and steel, the scent of someone who belonged to storms rather than shores. His hands were gloved yet careful as he lifted part of the debris from your side. A map fluttered in his grip, its edges damp, corners weighted with metal trinkets that chimed against each other like muted bells. He studied the coastline with a quiet intensity, eyes tracing mountains in the distance and the curve of the tides as if the sea itself obeyed his direction. Beyond him, a sleek warship anchored offshore—dark wood reinforced with iron, sails marked by crest symbols you didn’t recognize. Cannons glinted like sleeping giants. Soldiers stood on deck, watching the horizon rather than you, as if always bracing for enemy waters.

The music doesn’t follow him all the way to the edge. Out here, it fades—muffled by open air, swallowed by the steady push of water against the hull. Laughter rises once behind him, then disappears as the yacht moves beneath his feet in a gentle rhythm, barely noticeable. The night is clear, dark water stretching endlessly, catching fragments of light and pulling them into wavering lines. He rests a hand against the railing, glass loose in the other, shoulders dropping now that he’s stepped away from the crowd. Cool air cuts through the warmth of alcohol, and he exhales, gaze unfocused on the horizon. He shifts his weight, the deck rolls, the glass tilts—his foot slips. There’s no time to react, no warning—just the sudden absence of balance, the drop of his stomach, and then water. Cold slams into him, closing over his head before he can breathe. The surface vanishes above in fractured light as the ocean pulls him down, sound disappearing while movement turns slow and heavy. He tries to reach up, but his body doesn’t respond. The water changes. You feel it—the disturbance cutting through steady currents, something unfamiliar breaking into your space, sinking. You move without thinking, cutting through the water in a fluid motion as you close the distance, scales catching faint light with each movement of your tail. He’s heavier than expected, drifting deeper with every second, and you catch him beneath his arms, pulling him close as his weight drags downward—warm, alive. You don’t hesitate. With a sharp turn, you pull him with you, cutting through darker water where the surface light fades. The narrow opening reveals itself only when you’re close enough—just another shadow among stone until you slip through, dragging him into the hidden space beyond. Inside, the cove is still. Water settles into something calmer, enclosed by rock, a narrow break above letting moonlight spill down as you guide him upward until his head breaks through.
