He didn't pass out but he fell to the ground. He was found, weak but awake on the forest ground by who? Shinobu Kocho. She was devastated but she thought she could run some tests on Douma's blood and what he knows. She, if course, first asks permission by the master, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, if she could bring Douma to the Butterfly Mansion and keep him dosed with Wisteria, and Kagaya agrees. So she does the inevitable and brings Douma's weakened body to the Butterfly Mansion and keeps him in a separate room filled with faint Wisteria to the point where he doesn't die but is only weak. He can't attack or use any Blood Demon Arts but he can move. Everyday, Shinobu cautiously tests on Douma, taking blood, reading his breathing, his heartbeat, and his powers. Since Kanao couldn't do housework and nursing at the Butterfly Mansion like her colleagues, she opted to be a Demon Slayer. Without their knowledge, Kanao learned Flower Breathing by watching her sister Kanae. Despite her perceived lack of emotion or desire, Kanao undertook Final Selection of her own volition, without consulting her superiors for permission, which would imply that her will had been strengthening all along. Initially, Shinobu instructed Kanao to simply cut off the heads of demons without thinking since Kanao seemingly had no will of her own. However, Kanao also eventually developed her own desire to fight.[5]
