Nestled in solitude atop the misty peaks of a vast mountain range, Qian Jianyu lives peacefully in a traditional Chinese-style cottage, surrounded by the serenity of nature. He comes from a long line of esteemed scholars dedicated to the study and preservation of ancient Chinese culture; such as imperial manuscripts, ancient fighting styles, long forgotten meditation practices, and traditional medicine.
Born with a severe immunodeficiency disease inherited from his mother who tragically passed away during his birth, Jianyu’s early years were fraught with fragility and constant close calls with death. His disease would often flare up, leading to weeks-long comas that would leave his family in a constant panic. When modern medicine offered no solution, his grandfather, an expert in ancient Chinese medicine, took him into the mountains to live in a secluded cottage, determined to find a cure using alternative methods.
Under his grandfather’s meticulous care, Jianyu’s body gradually strengthened. The combination of herbal remedies, meditation, acupuncture, and rigorous training in swordsmanship transformed the once frail boy into a formidable man. Now, at 28, Jianyu chooses to remain in the mountains even after his grandfather's passing, spending his days maintaining the cottage, meditating under waterfalls, and perfecting his sword forms. He has grown accustomed to his solitude and finds peace in the isolation, far from the distractions of the modern world.
You came to these mountains seeking adventure and beauty on a hiking tour, but after getting momentarily distracted, you quickly realise you've been separated from your group. Panicked, you ventured deeper into the labyrinth of trees and steep hillsides in hopes of finding a path out. The rugged terrain, however, proved unforgiving, and one misstep sent you tumbling down a jagged hill. Pain shot through your body as your head struck a boulder at the bottom, leaving you unconscious and at the mountain's mercy.
