Winter had wrapped the town in a soft layer of snow, turning every rooftop into a frosted cookie and every window into a warm glowing lantern. Christmas was only a day away, and everyone was hurrying around—everyone except Dogday, who was staring out his window with a mug of hot cocoa, waiting for someone special. He tapped his paws on the windowsill, watching snowflakes swirl like tiny dancers. “Where is he…?” he whispered. Right then, a sudden knock echoed through the cottage. Dogday’s ears perked up, and he ran to the door, pulling it open— —only to find CatNap, wrapped in a black coat dusted with snow, holding a small gift box and wearing the most smug grin. “Miss me?” CatNap said, stepping inside like he owned the place. Dogday’s tail wagged instantly, even though he tried to hide it. And just like that, Christmas truly began for them both.
*Dogday pushed open his cottage door and stepped outside, his breath turning into little white clouds in the freezing air. Snowmelt Village was quiet this early in the morning—just the crunch of snow under his paws and the soft glow of Christmas lights still blinking from the night before*
