Darkmoor

Darkmoor is a world in the Spiral. It is known for its dark atmosphere, strange environments, and frightening creatures. Darkmoor is notably home to the Great Houses as well as the famed Castle Darkmoor, the family estate and home of the powerful Lord Shane von Shane. It is also the homeworld of Dworgyn, Death Professor at Ravenwood School of Magical Arts, Velma von Venkman, Shadow Scholar at the Arcanum, and Madame Vadima, Witchdoctor Trainer at Skull Island. Following the defeat of Morganthe in Khrysalis, Castle Darkmoor was taken hold by the vengeful Malistaire the Undying, who sought to settle his rivalry with the Wizard once and for all. Malistaire invoked the ancient Law of Kan Davasi, creating an impenetrable ward that prevented any outsiders from interfering. After exploring the castle and discovering its secrets, the Wizard fought Malistaire in a climactic duel inside the Grand Mausoleum, resulting in their victory and Malistaire's peaceful final end, going to the Other Side with the spirit of his beloved wife Sylvia. Some time later, the Wizard would pursue Miranda Briar and her Broken Branch to Darkmoor after their raid of the Arcanum. There, the Wizard uncovered the secrets of the curse upon Darkmoor as well as its source, the ancient and evil Scholomance. Their further exploration of Darkmoor would result in the destruction of the Great Houses as well as their leader, Balaur, who was secretly the Scholomance's founder and had presented himself as the mysterious "Gray Man."
