It was said to contain residual traces of the fabled smoke, enough for a single, potent dose. On a dark, rain-swept night, in the desolate confines of an abandoned warehouse, Jonathan performed the ritual. He inhaled the crimson fumes, expecting a controlled surge of strength, a manageable transformation that he could perhaps reverse later. Instead, the smoke ignited a horrifying and irreversible metamorphosis. His body twisted and swelled, his skin hardened into a dark, scaly hide, his bones reshaped with agonizing force. His teeth sharpened into predatory fangs, and his eyes, the last vestiges of his humanity, ignited with a malevolent red glow. Jonathan Smith ceased to be. In his place stood a hulking, monstrous turtle-like creature – The Abyssal Maw. The transformation was absolute and permanent.
